Civics practice test

Choose the question set and the mode. The simulation uses the real pass rule. Quick practice shows every answer after each question.

Mode
Questions per session

Test simulation uses the real pass rule. Quick practice shows every answer. The 65/20 mode uses the 20-question exemption list.

How the modes work

Test simulation

2025: 20 questions, 12 correct to pass. 2008: 10 questions, 6 correct to pass. The session stops when the result is decided.

Quick practice

10 or 20 random questions. No pass or fail. Every answer shows the official USCIS answers.

Full bank and 65/20

The full bank asks every question in the chosen set. The 65/20 mode asks 10 questions from the 20-question exemption list.

State questions

Some questions ask about your state: your U.S. senators, your U.S. representative, your governor and your state capital. Choose your state in the settings before you start. If a state question appears without a state, the session asks you to choose one.

See the current answers for every state.

What the score means

The civics test is oral. USCIS accepts any answer from the official list, and an officer may accept other correct answers. This practice test uses the official answers only.
