What changed on October 20, 2025
USCIS replaced the 2008 civics test with a new 2025 test for new applications. The filing date of your Form N-400 decides which test you take.
The rule in one line: filed before October 20, 2025 → 2008 test. Filed on or after October 20, 2025 → 2025 test.
